Why might this be relevant?
When something serious happens, parents need clear next steps — not panic and not blame. The school can share calm guidance so parents know where to start and when to contact police or counselling.
Use this kit when…
- After a specific incident in class or a group chat — when parents need to know what to do
- When parents contact the school about scams, threats or images — as a supplement to the school’s own support
- When you want to share calm guidance — not sensationalism. The child is not to blame.
What parents should know
- Stop contact with the person involved — save messages and screenshots as evidence.
- Do not click links or send codes, images or money — even if someone is pressuring you.
- For threats, grooming or arranged meetings: contact the police on 114. For immediate danger: 112.
- For private images or pressure: keep evidence and get help — the child is not to blame. SletDet can help.
- The school can support, but cannot replace police or counselling. Share numbers and links to professional help.
Talk about it at home
- “Tell me calmly what happened — I am on your side. You have not done anything wrong.”
- “Has anyone asked you to keep something secret? That is a red flag — you can always tell me.”
- “Is anyone threatening you or asking for photos? We will figure it out together — you are not alone.”
