Unexpected purchases
Unexpected charges often come from a game, a saved card, or an account your child is signed in to. It happens more often than many think — and can often be stopped going forward.
In short
Find the receipt in email, the App Store, Google Play or the bank. Block new purchases. Ask for a refund where the amount was taken. Then set a cap so it does not happen again. If it looks like fraud, report it to the police. The Consumer Ombudsman takes complaints about misleading purchases. If it is gambling, call StopSpillet on 70 22 28 25. Calmly talk with your child about what was bought.
1
Find the receipt
Search email for Apple, Google, Roblox or the bank. The amount tells you whether it is the App Store, Play, or the game itself. Also check for several small charges — they may be subscriptions or repeat purchases.
2
Stop new purchases
Turn off purchases on the phone, and set a cap in the game. See the Roblox or iPhone guide if that fits. If you dispute a charge, you can complain to the Consumer Ombudsman. If it is gambling or chasing losses, call StopSpillet on 70 22 28 25. Remove saved payment cards so it does not happen again.
An unexpected purchase is not the same as gambling. If your child is staking real money, using casino apps or chasing losses, see the gambling guide and call StopSpillet. Refunds are not always possible — but locking things down going forward often is.
