How to find and cancel subscriptions

Subscriptions from apps and games can be hard to find — especially when they renew automatically. Here is the path on iPhone and Android. It often takes only a few minutes to get an overview once you know where to look.

Game coins and a controller

In short

iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Android: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Check both if your child uses iPhone and Android. Compare with bank charges — some subscriptions are billed directly by the service.

  1. 1

    Find subscriptions on iPhone

Open Settings, tap your name at the top, and choose Subscriptions. Here you see everything billed through Apple ID — both Apple services and subscriptions bought in apps. You can also open the App Store, tap your profile icon, and choose Subscriptions. Check the account your child actually uses — not only yours.

  2. 2

    Cancel a subscription on iPhone

Tap the subscription, scroll down, and choose Cancel Subscription. If the button is missing, it is already cancelled — or it is billed directly by the service, not through Apple. Access usually lasts until the period ends. Note the cancellation date so you can check next month’s charges.

  3. 3

    Find subscriptions on Android

Open the Play Store, tap the profile icon at the top right, and go to Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. You can also go to play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions in a browser — sign in with the Google account your child uses. Family Link can show purchases, but cancellation happens here.

  4. 4

    Cancel a subscription on Android

Tap the subscription, choose Manage, and tap Cancel subscription. Deleting the app from the phone does not cancel the subscription — you must do it here. Google sends a confirmation email. Save the email if charges continue after cancellation.

  5. 5

    Check family subscriptions

On iPhone, Family Sharing can share subscriptions — for example Apple Music or iCloud+. The organiser pays, and other family members can use them. Go to Settings → Family to see who is included and who pays. On Android, Google One shares can be shared via the family group in Family Link. Your child’s own app subscriptions still sit under their account.

  6. 6

If the subscription is not on the list

Some subscriptions are billed directly by the service — for example Netflix, Spotify, or a game via a website. Check receipts in email and the bank. Compare Apple ID or Google account: the subscription may be on a different account than the one you are checking. Ask your child whether they created an extra account for a game.

If you dispute a charge, you can complain to the Danish Consumer Ombudsman. ParentPilot cannot cancel subscriptions for you — it must be done with Apple, Google, or the service. Set a calendar reminder if you want to check again in a few months.
